About the Historical Society of South Rowan
The Historical Society of South Rowan (formerly the Historical Society of China Grove) is a non-profit, 501(C)(3) educational organization created to promote an awareness and understanding of the historical heritage of the South Rowan area.
The purpose of the Society is to:
bring together in friendly fellowship those persons dedicated to the preservation of the history of the South Rowan community
to promote an awareness among the members and the general public of the history and the culture of South Rowan
to promote and provide for active participation in the goals of the Society in order to maintain a legacy for future
The Historical Society of China Grove was charted March 11, 1989, on
the centennial anniversary of China Grove. The charter was amended
August 17, 2000 to change the name of the organization to the
Historical Society of South Rowan, Inc, in order to include the
entire South Rowan area.
The Society is comprised of the elected officers and directors.
