C. E. Blackwelder Home
(Now Owned by Reed and Renee Simmons)
818 South Main Street
Built circa 1904
This home was built in 1904 by Charlie Edward and Cora Propst
Blackwelder. Mr. Blackwelder was the town's blacksmith for at least
46 years. Mr. and Mrs. Blackwelder's only daughter, Zelia
Blackwelder Stafford, also lived in the house for many years and
taught piano. Her husband, Anderson Stafford, was a barber at the
south end of town. Mr. and Mrs. Simmons purchased the home in 1985
from the Staffords, and it has undergone extensive remodeling to
accommodate their five children.
