The Mack Lee Ritchie Home
(Now Home of Don and Ann Fryar)
204 South Main Street
Built circa 1902

This stately home, still in the central business district of China Grove, was the home to three generations of the Ritchie family. Mr. and Mrs. Mack Lee Ritchie were very prominent members of the community; Mr. Ritchie established Ritchie Hardware Company, one of the oldest commercial establishments in the downtown area, in the early 1900's. In addition, Mr. Ritchie served as an alderman in 1905 and was instrumental in the establishment of the Farm Life School in China Grove. The Ritchies' daughter, Alice B. Ritchie Lawson, and her husband, B. C. Lawson, lived in the home for many years.
